I’ve never been so confused in my life. I’m at the board and student goes,
“OOHH, Ms. Lee got cake today”
Now for those of you with the rhetorical context of a normal human being might be thinking: gee… how can a teacher have cake when she is teaching? Out of my utter confusion and curiosity I ask, “What are you talking about?”. Now this is my nonsensical, naive self coming into the classroom because to my dismay my students start to laugh and explain to me that “cake” means “big butt”.
Oh the humanity. My list of slang from the Bronx increases:
- Brick
- Wavy
- Wylin’
- Cake
